The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Annual Publications are a set of three books: A selection of art from the year's award-winning artists, a selection of writing from the year's award-winning writers, and a yearbook consisting of a list of medalists, educators, programs and sponsors. Once national medalists are announced,
we receive all award-winning assets and comb through hundreds of pieces to select what we feel best exemplifies the scope of work submitted by the young artists and writers. These works are then compiled into our publications. This project has a one month turnaround, and all three books are created simultaneously.
I am in charge of processing all images for print, laying out text, going through rounds of editorial review with our copyeditors, setting up the final print files, releasing final files to our printer, and securing approvals of both digital and hard copy proofs.
