The National Student Poets Program is the nation’s highest honor for young poets creating original work. Annually, five teens are selected as youth poetry ambassadors, each representing a different geographic region of the country. Once the teens are appointed, we are sent a portfolio of their work and select poems to publish in an annual chapbook. This project has a tight one-month turnaround, from poet appointment to final product.
I layout text, go through rounds of editorial review with our copyeditors, set up the final print files, release final files to our printer, and secure approvals of both digital and hard copy proofs.
